Amnesty
International USA
Amnesty International's vision is of a world in which every person enjoys
all of the human rights enshrined in the Universal Declaration of Human
Rights and other international human rights standards.
In pursuit of this vision, AI's mission is to undertake research and action
focused on preventing and ending grave abuses of the rights to physical and
mental integrity, freedom of conscience and expression, and freedom from
discrimination, within the context of its work to promote all human rights.
AI is independent of any government, political ideology, economic interest
or religion. It does not support or oppose any government or political
system, nor does it support or oppose the views of the victims whose rights
it seeks to protect. It is concerned solely with the impartial protection of
human rights.

Assisting
Families of Inmates, Inc.
The AFOI mission is to prevent the breakdown of relationships among inmates
and their families by providing regular, meaningful visitation, support and
education services. Our services help prepare families for a successful
transition when the inmate is released from prison. AFOI is the only program
in Virginia that provides these services and one of only a handful, of such
programs, in the United States.
CRIMINON
Originally established in New Zealand in 1972, Criminon has been delivering
courses and workshops to inmates and to clients and staff involved in the
correctional system in the United States since 1989. Criminon currently is
providing drug education, life skills programs and self-study courses to
over 8,600 students internationally each week.
The Criminon program for clients includes life and thinking skills and
educational courses as well as a full drug rehabilitation component in
non-institutional settings. Criminon has programs designed for
diversionary/probation, incarceration and re-entry/ parole settings.
Critical
Resistance
Critical Resistance seeks to build an international movement
to end the Prison Industrial Complex by challenging the belief
that caging and controlling people makes us safe. We believe that
basic necessities such as food, shelter, and freedom are what
really make our communities secure. As such, our work is part of
global struggles against inequality and powerlessness. The success
of the movement requires that it reflect communities most affected
by the PIC. Because we seek to abolish the PIC, we cannot support
any work that extends its life or scope.

Extended Family
The purpose of Extended Family is to show prisoners’ families how to
successfully adjust to a new way of life.
When someone is sent to prison the family left behind struggles with
financial, emotional, physical, and spiritual challenges. An Extended Family
group is made up of people facing these challenges together, looking for
solutions, and discovering services available in their community to help
them through this season in their lives.

Family and
Corrections Network
Since 1983 Family and Corrections Network has provided ways for those
concerned with families of prisoners to share information and experiences in
an atmosphere of mutual respect. We have done this through publishing,
sponsoring conferences, liaison with other agencies, presentations, and
consultation. We have published information on children of prisoners,
parenting programs for prisoners, prison visiting, incarcerated fathers,
hospitality programs and a variety of other topics. Our mission is to uphold
the value of families of prisoners.
We are proud of our history as the first national organization in the United
States focused on families of prisoners. This new web site, fcnetwork.org,
is Family and Corrections Network's latest effort to inform, support and
empower families of prisoners and their supporters.

Partnership for
Safety and Justice
Partnership for Safety and Justice unites those most affected by crime,
violence, and the criminal justice system (survivors of crime, people
convicted of crime, and the families of both) to advance approaches that
redirect policies and resources from an over-reliance on incarceration, to
effective strategies that reduce violence and recidivism, and increase
personal and community safety. We are based in Portland, Oregon, and work
across the state. We also serve as a "regional information hub" for Idaho,
Montana, and Washington state, sharing information about the criminal
justice system in those states.
